WW1 Commemorative Service – Rockbeare

All are welcome to attend a service at the War Memorial in the churchyard of St Mary with St Andrew, Rockbeare, to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War on Monday 4th August at 6.00pm. A Solemn vigil to mark the exact moment that Britain declared war on Germany in 1914 will be held at Exeter Cathedral. The vigil will start at 10pm on 4 August, and at 11pm all the lights of the Cathedral – inside and outside – will be turned off, marking the outbreak of war that ushered in one of the darkest periods in history.
