Forgotten Times – Forgotten Men

John Ellis will present an illustrated talk on Newton Abbot and District in the Great War 1914-18. Members of the Western Front Association will also be in attendance to assist with any questions you may have on the Great War. Admission price will be £3 for adults, and £1 for under-16's which will include a buffet supper. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Royal British Legion.

‘They Dream of Home’ – The Culm Valley at War 1913 – 1919

Ride 2 Remember

On the evening of Thursday August 28th,  the Lustleigh ringers will ring a muffled toll on the Lustleigh church bells to mark the centenary of the death of the first man from the village, Col.Frank Ridley Farrier Boileau, to be killed during the First World War. Unexpected Exeter – participation, commemoration and mayhem!

We Will Remember 1914-1918

Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) will be hosting the embroidered hanging which is the creation of artist and embroidery tutor Adrienne Howells. The six foot high black and white artwork depicts scenes from the trenches, with red silk poppies appliquéd onto banners either side, honouring those who died in the First World War.
