World War 1 and Wembury – exhibition

World War 1 and Wembury - a one-day exhibition organised by Wembury Local History Society.  Exhibits will explore topics such as the stories of local people who died and survived; Wembury's character and community in 1914 and how both changed; and the war's impact on local agriculture. There will also be displays telling broader stories such as servicemen's experiences in training, and how the army's bureaucracy dealt with death. The exhibition will take place from 10am on Saturday 15th November.

The information will be on display at St Andrew's Church, during the Exwick Christmas Fair from 11am - 2pm on Sunday 29th November. Pupils at Landscore Primary School are hosting their very own WW1 Museum as part of their 'Discovering our WW1 Ancestors' project. The project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has been a major focus throughout the Autumn Term with the whole school involved in related activities.  As well as learning about the First World War, pupils have investigated local WW1 soldiers, discovered what life was like for their own families and collected a wide range of memorabilia from the period.…
