Shrouds of the Somme: The Trench

This summer will see the return of the Shrouds of the Somme to Exeter. 'The Trench' created by artist Rob Heard is a free-standing wooden structure over 2m high stacked along both sides with the Shrouds for visitors to walk through. Visit the website www.shroudsofthesomme.com for more information.

How did the cooks manage to provide meals for thousands of patients and staff at a time of food shortages ? WW1 Coffee Morning in Axminster

Axminster Care Service are hosting a coffee morning at the Axminster Church Rooms by the Minster Green from 9am - 1pm on Thursday 4 October. Please come along to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, served by uniformed 'WW1 nurses' ! On display will be a small selection of objects and literature from the First World War period. Bric-a-brac, cakes, raffle and a WW1 quiz also available - proceeds to Axminster Care Service.
