WW1 Exhibition in Beer
1 August 2014 - 4 August 2014
The centenary of the outbreak of the First World War will be marked in Beer, East Devon, by a number of events organised by the Beer 2014 Group, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and local sponsors.
Held over the long weekend Friday 1st to Monday 4th August, the events will include a four-day exhibition of photos, memorabilia and biographies of many of the 150 or so men from the village who served in the First World War, including 28 who died.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Neil Parish MP at 10.30am on Friday 1st August in the Congregational Hall.
“We want to pay tribute to all those who served”, said Beer 2014 Group chairman Richard Scott, “and to acknowledge the contribution, and the sacrifice, made by small communities like Beer.”
