Exhibition – The World of Work: Working lives in Exeter 1914 – 1918

9 August 2014

Free

Saturday 9th August 2014 at Exeter Phoenix, Gandy Street, Exeter

This interesting exhibition event will bring together a range of Trade Unions, and other organisations to tell the stories of what it was like to work in the Exeter area 100 years ago.  It will be looking at working conditions for employees at that time, the impact of the First World War on employment in the city, and wider stories to gain some insight into life ‘on the Home Front’, including the role of women and conscientious objectors, as well as learning more about those who went to war.

Trade Unions have linked up with community and local history groups across Exeter to organise an event to explore working lives during the war.  Activities will include workplace and family history tasters, talks, workshops and a range of exhibits including photographs, film and artefacts.

We hope you will be able to join us for what will prove to be a fascinating and informative event.

Take a look at the Facebook event page.
